He then left to attend business school, rejoining Prudential in equity asset management in 1992. Kiefer became a portfolio manager in 1994 at Prudential.

Prior to joining Jennison, Brown worked on the North American Oil and Gas Exploration and Production team at Deutsche Bank Securities from 2000 to 2005. Prior to that, he worked at Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette covering the Exploration and Production sector. Brown also worked as an Analyst in Metropolitan Life Insurance Companies Institutional Finance department from 1997 to 2000.
